Propel ("we," "us," or "our") provides the Propel mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through the App, why we collect it, how we store and share it, and the rights available to you.
Propel is an offline-first parental control and learning app. It is distributed through the Google Play Store and may be made available worldwide, subject to Google Play availability, local laws, and our release settings. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
This Policy is drafted primarily with Indian law in mind, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act"), the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025 ("DPDP Rules"), the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011. If you use Propel outside India, local privacy, consumer protection, child protection, and app-store laws may also apply.
Because Propel is designed for parental control and may involve children's data, we aim to follow a high standard of notice, consent, data minimisation, security, and deletion even where some legal obligations are still being phased in. Users outside India may also have rights under their local data protection laws, as described in Section 11.
Propel has two user roles:
Children do not create independent Propel accounts. If you register as a Parent, you confirm that you are legally authorised to act for the Child and to consent to the processing described in this Policy.

We do not collect a full inventory of every app on the device for cloud storage. The App may display installed apps locally so the Parent can choose which apps to restrict, but only the apps selected by the Parent are used for monitoring settings.
To operate as a parental control tool, Propel requests the following Android permissions:
Before requesting the key parental-control permissions, the App may show a prominent disclosure explaining why the permission is needed.
Propel uses Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Performance Monitoring to help us diagnose crashes and improve reliability. These services may process device model, operating system version, app version, crash stack traces, performance traces, and similar technical diagnostics. We do not intentionally include Parent names, child names, PINs, passwords, or quiz answers in crash or performance logs.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use Child data for targeted advertising or behavioural advertising.
For Parent data, we rely on consent, performance of the service requested by you, and legitimate security and reliability needs. For Child data, we rely on the Parent's consent and authority as the Child's parent or legal guardian.
You may withdraw consent or request deletion by contacting us. Some features cannot operate if required permissions or consent are withdrawn.
Propel is designed to be installed, configured, and supervised by a Parent. The Parent's account creation, acceptance of this Policy, and configuration of the Child profile are treated as parental consent for the App's child-related processing.
We do not knowingly allow children to register their own accounts. We do not knowingly process a child's data for targeted advertising, cross-app advertising tracking, or profiling unrelated to the parental-control and educational features selected by the Parent.
Parents are responsible for choosing age-appropriate settings, class levels, monitored apps, and device limits.
Propel is offline-first. Most operational data lives on the device.
We retain cloud account and progress data while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed for legal, security, support, or dispute-resolution purposes. If a different Parent account signs in on the same device, the App is designed to clear local user-specific data from the previous account before loading the new one.
You may request deletion of your account and associated cloud data using the contact details in Section 17.
We share limited information with service providers only as needed to operate Propel:
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not authorise them to use your or your Child's data for their own advertising.
Because we use providers such as Google/Firebase and Brevo, information may be processed or stored outside your country of residence, including outside India. We select established service providers that maintain technical, organisational, and contractual safeguards for international data transfers.
Where local law imposes specific transfer requirements, we rely on the data processing terms and safeguards provided by those processors, together with our own data minimisation practices.
Propel may be made available globally through Google Play. Availability may vary by country, device, operating system version, local law, Google Play policy, and our release settings.
If you use Propel outside India, you may have rights under your local privacy or data protection laws, including laws that apply to children's data, parental consent, international transfers, account deletion, and complaints to local regulators. If local mandatory law gives you additional rights, you may contact us and we will handle your request in good faith.

Users in India may escalate unresolved eligible matters to the Data Protection Board of India when applicable. Users outside India may have similar rights before their local data protection or consumer authority.
We use safeguards appropriate to the nature of the App, including encrypted local database storage, secure device storage for sensitive local secrets, HTTPS/TLS for network communication, Firebase security rules, limited access to production systems, and hashed or protected storage for sensitive credentials where under our control.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to reduce risk and respond responsibly to issues.
If we become aware of a personal data breach that affects you or your Child, we will take reasonable steps to investigate, mitigate harm, notify affected users, and notify relevant authorities where required by applicable law.
Propel does not sell personal data. Propel does not show third-party advertising to Child Users in the quiz or lock-screen flow. We do not use Child data for targeted advertising, cross-app tracking, or behavioural advertising profiles.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App, our service providers, legal requirements, or release scope. We will update the "Last Updated" date and, where changes are material, notify users through the App, Google Play, or email.

This Policy is primarily governed by the laws of India. Where mandatory privacy or consumer protection laws of your country apply and cannot be excluded, those laws will apply to the extent required.
